Our story

We are a husband-and-wife team with a passion of serving others meals we have perfected over the past (almost 2) decades of our marriage. On our honeymoon, in Destin, Florida, we had an aha moment when we shared a family-style meal together. The feeling of sharing a larger dish together brought a feeling of connection, much like a Sunday gathering with our grandparents. That was the meal we decided to go to culinary school. Rather than both of us taking the time to go through a rigorous program simultaneously, we decided for one of us to go and bring the knowledge home and teach the craft one-on-one. The techniques learned and taught are paramount to our success today.

While in school, Cassie was on the Student Culinary Hot Food Team where she competed through the American Culinary Federation at the NC state, Southeast regional, and national levels. Chad would attend practices and competitions to watch, gain knowledge, sharpen chef’s knives, and taste/critique the team’s creations.

After school, Cassie worked in numerous restaurants and country clubs as a pastry chef creating wedding and celebration cakes, dessert buffets, artisan breads, and plated desserts. Additionally, she planned, organized, and prepared menus for event catering.

Chad continued his twelve-year career at the Canton Paper Mill until it’s sudden closure in June of 2023. During his time at the paper mill, Chad attended blade smithing classes where he learned how to forge chef’s knives by the legendary David Burnette. He loves to hammer on his anvil using his coal forge and create art out of all things metal, in his spare time.
